Being a Kid Again

While I watched my children dye eggs I was struck by how much they enjoy the little traditions that accompany holidays. I often want to rush through the activity and go on to the next task. I need to stop and spend a little time enjoying the children while they are still young.

This year I bought a monster egg dying kit. I also bought Dora stickers for my daughter to decorate her eggs in case she didn’t want to have monster eggs.

I’m already dreaming of the summer. One of my favorite past vacations was a trip to Jekyll Island, GA. It was a 13 hour drive but it was well worth it. We got to explore the beach, visit the Sea Turtle Center, play golf and even day trip to Savannah. The rental house was discounted because we went during the low season. The local school’s started in mid August but my children didn’t start until after Labor Day. It’s always a good idea to check when low or mid-season is in different locations because then you might be able to get some real discounts.

My daughter turned three in January. She wanted a pink castle cake.  I dipped ice cream comes in melted vanilla candy wafers. I sprinkled them with pink sugar. I used chocolate bars for the drawbridge.  I sprinkled the leftover melted wafers on pretzels. The princess was very pleased with her cake.
