Summer Gift Bag

I was in a hurry to wrap a gift for my niece. We just came home from vacation and had leave for the party in an hour. (I was going to wrap the gift before vacation but I didn’t make it that far down on the to-do list.) I remembered that I bought a straw bag for her a few weeks before with the intention making cute flip-flops to go in it. The flop flops never worked out to my satisfaction so with a few weeks left of the summer I realized that I might as well give her the bag. I bought it at target for $2.50. It might have even been half-off. I quickly attached a flower with my hot glue gun. The gift fit perfectly and it made a pretty presentation.

Inspiration

Here are some random things I found during my two hours of alone time on vacation.

I fell in love with this bakeshop. The food looked delicious and it was wonderfully decorated.

They had the cutest decorations. The circles in the background were made of paper and they went around the entire store.

I couldn’t resist a key lime tart and a coffee.

At an antique shop I found two telephone desks. I bought one a few months back and haven’t gotten around doing anything with it yet.

This one is mine. I got it for $7.00.

They had these yummy cookies at a local deli. I purchased a few for the kids. They loved them.

If you have boys this would be the coolest thing to make. My friend Rosie at 3rosebuds made them for her son’s birthday. Read about them at her blog.

My son went crazy when he saw them and wanted me to make them.

Repurposed Vase

I am trying to curb my “hoarding”. I’m trying to find a purpose for everything in the basement or get rid of it. I just purchased a Silhouette SD. Oops! That doesn’t help with the hoarding. I started fiddling with it last night. Wow!! There’s so much you can do with it.

This is my quick project for the day and my first attempt to cut vinyl.

I took an old sorority vase. I haven’t used that in 15 years. Yikes, that makes me old.

I cut circles in different sizes from brown vinyl  and covered up the sorority symbol.

I added flowers from the garden and I have flowers for the bathroom. They colors can be changed depending on the flowers or the occasion. Sorry about the pictures but we have a busy day.
